Editorial policy
This page sets out who writes solaten.online, how we decide that something is true, how the site is paid for, and the things we will not do to make an advertisement perform better. It is the standard we expect to be held to.
1. Who writes this site
Articles on solaten.online are written and edited by Margaret Cook, who is the named responsible editor and the person legally accountable for what appears here. Every article carries a byline and a publication date, and every article is signed by a person rather than by “the team”.
The site is published by DKA tours, s.r.o., registered in the Czech Republic under company number 28459857. Full details are in the legal notice.
Research tools, including software assistance, may be used while drafting. Nothing is published on that basis alone: every factual statement is checked by the responsible editor against the sources described in section 2 before it goes live, and the editor is answerable for the result either way.
2. How we establish facts, and how we source them
Crossout is a live, frequently patched game. That shapes everything about how we write:
- Primary sources first. The game itself, the official Crossout website and the developers' own announcements outrank everything else. Community documentation is used where it is consistent with those sources, and is cross-checked before we rely on it.
- We cite what we used. Articles carry a sources section naming the material the page rests on.
- We do not quote volatile numbers. Energy values, market prices, matchmaking thresholds and reward amounts change, sometimes without announcement. Publishing them would create a page that is confidently wrong within weeks, so we describe how the mechanic behaves and send the reader to the game for the figure. This is a deliberate editorial choice, and we say so on the page.
- We hedge what we cannot verify, out loud. If something is uncertain, the page says it is uncertain. We would rather publish “we cannot confirm this” than a clean sentence that might be false.
- The publisher's information prevails. Every article states this. If the game's own documentation contradicts us, it is right and we are wrong.
3. How this site is funded
solaten.online is funded entirely by affiliate advertising. Links and buttons marked partner link lead, through an affiliate network, to the official Crossout website. If a reader registers with the advertiser after following one, the publisher may be paid a commission. The reader never pays more because of it.
We disclose this in three places, on every page that carries a commercial link: a permanent bar at the very top of the page, a disclosure box immediately beneath the main heading and before any promotional content, and a label plus a note at each individual link. No commercial link appears anywhere on this site before a disclosure has already been shown.
We receive no payment for coverage, no payment for a favourable angle and no payment for placement within an article.
4. What we refuse to do
These are not aspirations. They are rules, and breaking one is grounds for pulling a page.
No fake testimonials
We publish no “reader stories”, no invented quotations and no reader-submitted experiences we have not received. Earlier versions of this site used that framing; it has been removed.
No invented ratings
No star ratings, no scores out of ten, no “editor's choice” badges, and no league tables assembled to make one option look inevitable.
No artificial urgency
No countdown timers, no “limited places”, no “offer ends tonight”, no fabricated scarcity of any kind.
No guaranteed results
We do not promise that following our advice will make you win, rank up, or reach any particular standard in any particular time. Nobody can promise that honestly.
No invented statistics
We do not publish a number we cannot source. Where a figure would be useful but is unverifiable or volatile, we say so instead of estimating and presenting the estimate as fact.
No disguised advertising
An advertisement is never dressed as an article, a news item or a personal recommendation. If it is commercial, it is labelled as commercial.
5. Independence from the advertiser
The advertiser has no right of review over what is published here. It does not see articles before they appear, it cannot require a change or a removal, and it has no influence over the editorial line. Commission is paid on registrations, not on what we write about the product.
In practice, our independence shows up as criticism: this site tells readers that the rarest part they can afford is often the wrong purchase, that spending money moves you into harder matches rather than easier ones, and that we will not declare the game “not pay-to-win” because that is a judgement nobody can state as fact. None of that helps a conversion rate. It stays because it is accurate.
We also decline to describe the advertised product in terms we cannot support. The link on this site goes to the official Crossout registration page — it is not a course, a training programme or a paid product, and we describe it as what it is.
6. Corrections
We would rather be corrected than be wrong.
- Tell us.
Email info@solaten.online with the page and, if you have it, the source that shows the correct position. Anyone may do this; you do not have to explain who you are.
- We check it.
Against the game, the official site and the developers' announcements — in that order of authority.
- We fix it on the page.
Not in a separate note somewhere else. The page itself is corrected.
- We say what changed.
Where a correction changes the meaning of a passage, the page records that it was corrected and when. Silent rewriting of a substantive error is not acceptable to us.
- We update the review date.
Pages carry a “last reviewed” date so you can see how old the information is.
We aim to respond to correction requests within a reasonable period. A correction is never refused because it is commercially inconvenient.
7. Illustrations
Every diagram and illustration on this site is an original vector drawing produced for solaten.online. We use no screenshots of the game, no stock photography and no third-party images, both because using them on an ad-funded page would raise copyright and trademark problems and because a diagram drawn to explain a mechanic explains it better than a picture of a screen. Each illustration states on its face when its proportions are illustrative rather than measured.
8. Reader data
An editorial policy that collected reader behaviour in order to optimise advertising would be in tension with everything above, so we do not collect any. No cookies, no analytics, no advertising pixels, no third-party requests. The cookie policy explains how to verify that yourself in under a minute.
